Minister of State in charge of Constitutional and Legal Affairs

Evode Uwizeyimana is the Minister of State in charge of Constitutional and Legal affairs. Prior to his nomination, he was the Vice chairperson of the Rwanda Law Reform Commission. During his office at Rwanda Law Reform Commission, he was appointed by the Cabinet as Commissioner to the Support Commission to Parliament for the review of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 04/06/2003.

He also served as a Judge at the Intermediate Court of Huye and later as an international consultant in charge of international treaties and Judicial Cooperation at the Ministry of Justice. He was member of the Inquiry Committee on the BBC’s documentary “Rwanda’s Untold Story” between November 2014 and February 2015. He is a former legal expert at the Roy Larochelle law firm in Montreal, Canada.

Mr. Uwizeyimana Evode holds a master’s degree in International Law (LL.M.) and a master’s degree in Business Law (D.E.S.S). He has been a researcher at the University of Montreal where he is currently pursuing his doctoral studies in International Criminal Law. Mr. Uwizeyimana has also provided legal analyst consultancy to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
