Prevent litigations that may result from mismanagement of abandoned properties – Busingye Johnston

On 11th May, 2017, the Ministry of Justice organized a coordination meeting with abandoned property Management Committees. According to the Ministerial Order No 003/MOJ/AG/2017 of 07/02/2017 on abandoned properties, the president of the Committee is the Vice Mayor in charge of economic development at the District. The representative of National Police, Natural Resources authority and one employee from Districts’ one stop center were among the participants of the meeting. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Justice/ Attorney General Honorable Jonston Busigye. The objective of this meeting was to enhance the effective management of abandoned properties.

The key issues discussed were the implementation of the Law No 39/2015 of 22/08/2015 and Ministerial Order No 003/MOJ/AG/2017 of 07/02/2017 on abandoned properties and the implementation of different resolutions of previous meetings.

The Minister of Justice/Attorney General requested the participants to effectively manage abandoned property and its productivity with a special focus on the rights and interests of their owners and prevent all litigation that may result from their mismanagement.
