Minister of Justice and Attorney General participated in the fourth African Correctional Services Association (ACSA) conference held in Kigali

The fourth African Correctional Services Association (ACSA) Biennial conference is taking place in Kigali Convention Center from the 15th to 19th May 2017.  The Theme for this conference is: “Building a Professional correctional services system in Africa: A strategic objective” and aims at introducing innovative measures, strategies to professionalize African correctional services in the interests of the detainees and Correctional Officers.

In his opening remarks, Rwandan Minister of Justice and Attorney General Busingye Johnston gave a lecture entitled “The transformation of the African Correction/Prison systems: a critical agenda” which focused on correctional services  during the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial period in African prisons. The Lecture also tackled the strategies to streamline African correctional services in future.
