The Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) has taken over, this Friday, the responsibility to register non-profit making Associations from the Ministry of Justice.

This is part of efforts geared at enhancing quality service delivery and good governance in the Country.

The files about the registration and operations of non-profit making Associations in the Country were handed over to Prof Anastase Shyaka, CEO RGB, by Tharcisse Karugarama, the Minister of Justice who is also Attorney General.

“We are handing over the files that were under our care so that Rwanda Governance Board can continue to deliver the services that the Ministry was delivering in terms of registration of religious and non-profit making organisations,” said Karugarama.

The Board was established last year through the merger of National Decentralisation Implementation Secretariat and the Rwanda Governance Advisory Council.

It was created to promote the principles of good governance and decentralisation, monitor the practices of good governance in public and private institutions, and conduct research related to governance to achieve good service delivery, sustainable development and prosperity.

The mandate of the board is derived from Rwanda’s commitment towards ensuring “good governance and a capable state” as explicitly indicated in Vision 2020.
