36 Justice Sector Professionals Strengthen Skills in Alternative Dispute Resolution

The Ministry of Justice, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organised a capacity-building training for 36 Justice Sector professionals from the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) and the Rwanda Bar Association (RBA) to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

Held from 21 to 25 September 2026 at the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) in Nyanza, the training aimed to enhance participants' capacity to understand, promote and appropriately apply or refer cases to ADR mechanisms within the justice system.

Participants engaged in practical and participatory learning through case studies, group discussions, simulations, role plays and experience-sharing sessions facilitated by experienced ADR practitioners and justice sector experts, in collaboration with MINIJUST and ILPD.

While closing the training, the Academic Dean of ILPD, Mr. Bangayandusha Viateur, said that ADR is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about putting that knowledge into practice to ensure that appropriate cases are identified, properly referred and resolved through mechanisms provided by law.

“We expect participants to take the skills gained from this training back to their respective institutions and contribute to stronger coordination and more effective access to justice.” He said.
