A consultative meeting on the implementation of the UPR recommendations
On Tuesday 21 May 2019, the Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with ONE UN Rwanda convened at Marriott Hotel, Kigali, a High level consultative meeting with Diplomatic Corps, UN Agencies and Development Partners on the Universal Periodic Review. The main objective of the meeting was to share updates on the status of implementation of the UPR recommendations.
While opening the meeting, BUSINGYE Johnston, Hon. Minister of Justice/Attorney General, reminded participants that, right from the beginning of UPR process, the Ministry decided together with the stakeholders that the process will be Government led, inclusive and open to all stakeholders including Civil Society, Private sector and Development Partners. Further, that this was a deliberate choice made to ensure that stakeholders are meaningfully involved in the process and that at the reporting time the State’s UPR report will include the views of all.
