Rwanda Bar Association Annual Conference Highlights Justice Reforms and the Role of Legal Professionals

On December 19, 2024, the Rwanda Bar Association (RBA) convened its annual conference, bringing together legal professionals to discuss key reforms and the evolving role of the legal profession in strengthening Rwanda’s justice system.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, graced the event as the guest of honor. In his keynote address, Dr. Ugirashebuja urged lawyers to embrace innovative approaches to justice delivery, highlighting the growing significance of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms.

“Lawyers are called upon to contribute to the advancement of justice by encouraging and mobilizing those they represent to leverage the strategies and policies being implemented to build a stronger and more inclusive justice system,” he said.

The President of the Rwanda Bar Association, Me Moise Nkundabarashi, applauded advocates for their unwavering commitment to justice. He also warmly welcomed newly enrolled members of the legal profession, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in maintaining excellence and integrity within the justice system.

The conference reinforced the shared responsibility of legal professionals in driving justice reforms and upholding the rule of law.
