Rwanda engages in the review of its 5th Periodic Report before the CESCR
Hon. Minister of Justice & Attorney General, Dr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, together with Ambassador James Ngango and the Rwandan delegation, participated in the 13th Meeting of the 77th Session of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) from February 17-18, 2025, at the United Nations Office of Human Rights in Geneva.
The review focused on Rwanda’s progress in key areas, including the right to work for women, youth, and persons with disabilities, poverty alleviation, social security, and access to adequate housing, water, and sanitation, particularly in rural areas.
During the session, Minister Ugirashebuja delivered a statement reaffirming Rwanda’s commitment to upholding and advancing economic, social, and cultural rights. The engagement highlighted the country’s continuous efforts to foster inclusive development and improve the well-being of its citizens.
