“We want to have every prisoner equipped with vocational skills” Minister Busingye

On Tuesday 14 May 2019, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General Busingye Johnston had an official visit in Rubavu District Western Province, particularly to Rubavu Prison and attending a citizens’ forum in Rugerero Sector.

While at Rubavu Prison, Minister Busingye asked inmates to seize their opportune time to acquire vocational trainings which will help them after incarceration.

“We want to have every prisoner come out of here with skills on work and personal reform to make you important in Rwandan society” he said.

After visiting Rubavu Prison, Minister Busingye proceeded to Rugerero Sector where he attended a citizens’ forum that combined seven cells, 4 cells and one cell from Rugerero, Rubavu and Nyundo sectors respectively.

The forum was also attended by 500 Abunzi mediators from all the cells in Rubavu District who received a bicycle each as had been promised by the President.

Miniser Busingye challenged parents to embark on finding solution for their young people who are being caught in rape, drugs, insult and others.
