Workshop Aims to Enhance Media's Role in Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution in Rwanda

On Friday, 14th March 2025, the Ministry of Justice, in partnership with the European Union, hosted a one-day workshop for media professionals, focusing on enhancing their role in the successful implementation of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) policy.

The primary goal of the workshop was to equip media professionals with a solid understanding of the ADR policy and its mechanisms. By deepening their knowledge of ADR, journalists can effectively advocate for the policy, raise awareness, and contribute to fostering a culture of peace and reconciliation within Rwandan society.

During the opening of the workshop, the Permanent Secretary/Solicitor General, Mr. Mbonera Théophile, emphasized that resolving conflicts without relying on the courts must become both a culture and the preferred choice for all Rwandans. He highlighted that this shift requires the involvement of everyone, especially those who engage directly with the public. The Ministry of Justice views the media as a key partner in this transformative process. The workshop provided a platform for sharing the progress of the ADR policy and gathering valuable feedback, ensuring that no one is left behind in this important journey.
