It is the responsibility of citizens to work for development and avoid conflicts - Minister Busingye Johnston

On Friday 27 September 2019, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General Busingye Johnston visited residents of Gisagara District in his follow-up on the decentralization of justice and to discuss with them the enforcement of justice policies.

Minister Busingye started by thanking Gisagara residents for their participation in national programs, particular he thanked Abunzi mediators for their determination, integrity and self-sacrifice in solving conflicts.

 “Abunzi are the only ones elected on the basis of integrity as qualification. Stick to this qualification” Minister Busingye said.

Minister Busingye told residents of Gisagara that they have full rights to solving conflicts, to have justice and to own personal development as well as avoiding conflicts.

He reminded them that a girl child in Rwanda is a “Don’t-touch” and that marriage age is 21. He asked everyone to own the responsibility to protect children and warned men who pregnant teenager girls that the law severely punishes the crime.

The minister said that it will not be the girls to be warned alone to be careful about men but the men themselves should know it’s their responsibility to protect them.

“I don’t want to warn these girls to be careful about men, no, I want to tell men to be careful. It’s we who should take up the responsibility, let the girls be free” Minister emphasized

On Saturday 28 September 2019, Minister Busingye proceeded his journey to Nyaruguru District at Nyanza Cell, Ngera Sector for the end of month Umuganda community work.

In Nyaruguru, Minister Busingye asked residents to avoid conflicts and embark on developing themselves, to approach justice offices whenever necessary, to avoid criminality and defilement.
