Minister of Justice/Attorney opens a two-day workshop on forensic evidence, electronic evidence and data protection workshop
On this Tuesday 17 July 2018, Honorable Minister of Justice and Attorney General Busingye Johnston opened a two-day workshop organised by Rwanda Bar Association, East African Law Society and other stakeholders. The workshop which took place in Park Inn Hotel aimed at learning more about handling emerging crimes, conservation of court evidences and data protection in the process of handling cybercrimes related cases. The participants include lawyers, prosecutors, investigators etc.
While opening the workshop, Minister Busingye highlighted how cybercrime related offenses keep on increasing and have a gigantic impact on the lives of individual people, companies, banks and governments in terms of losing crucial data and information worth millions. “Every year, African governments and businesses lose substantial economic resources to digital fraud. These are done through flawed technologies in procurement, falsification of digital data, and deliberate concealment of pertinent information through technology” Minister highlighted.
He concluded with the aspiration that the participants would apply the skills learnt to improve service delivery in various processes of the administration of justice. Click here to read the full speech by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General while opening the workshop.
