Ministry of Justice Hosts Training on Human Rights and Reporting

From May 14–16, 2025, the Ministry of Justice, in partnership with the European Union, convened a three-day training on Human Rights Instruments and Reporting Tools at the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) in Nyanza District. The training brought together 40 participants from various institutions, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing the protection and promotion of human rights in Rwanda.

The training aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of key international and regional human rights treaties and to develop practical skills in drafting, submitting, and monitoring human rights reports. It also focused on enhancing collaboration among institutions responsible for implementing human rights recommendations.

"This training is essential in ensuring that institutions are equipped to effectively engage with international human rights systems. By enhancing our capacity to report on and implement human rights commitments, we are building a stronger, more accountable framework for protecting the rights of all Rwandans," said Mr. Ndengeyinka William, Senior State Attorney / International Justice and Judicial Cooperation Department

The event underscored the importance of inter-agency coordination and shared responsibility in the implementation of Rwanda’s human rights obligations. Participants expressed appreciation for the practical tools and knowledge gained, which will support Rwanda's continued progress in aligning national practices with global human rights standards.
