Ministry of Justice’s staff visited Karama Genocide Memorial Site

On Thursday 21st June 2018 all staff of the Ministry of Justice led by Honorable Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Busingye Johnston visited Karama Genocide against Tutsi Memorial Site in Huye District, Karama Sector in Southern Province.

During the visit, Minister BUSINGYE said that the great vaccine for our history is Rwandan unity that Rwandans have which is still being built as the main weapon to avoid segregation.

“Every time we do not consider our unity seriously, and we give room to hatred, segregation, the end result is genocide; since hatred and segregation was given room for long time it ended up in 1994 genocide against Tutsi. Our Unity is the main weapon which prevents any segregation to take place in our society” Minister Busingye confirmed.

He further added that as lawyers, MINIJUST staff should put more efforts in fighting genocide ideology as something which is not neither tangible nor easily noticeable rather which request integrity. “We have an obligation to provide Justice and punish those who killed those people we are honoring today.” He emphasized

Minister of Justice and Attorney General concluded the visit by writing his note in Karama visitors’ book that “We sympathize with the Tutsi survivors of Karama. We honor the victims buried here and we always remember your heroism!”

Karama Genocide Memorial site keeps about seventy thousands bodies.
