The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Burundi, Mrs. BANYANKIMBONA Domine visited Rwanda.

On Friday, February 25, 2022, the Minister of Justice/Attorney General, Dr Emmanuel Ugirashebuja received the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Burundi Mrs. BANYANKIMBONA Domine and her delegation. They exchanged on bilateral relations and cooperation in justice matters between the two sister countries.

While welcoming the guests, Minister Dr Ugirashebuja Emmanuel said that Rwanda and Burundi are twin sisters’ countries. "What we share is far bigger than what can separate us. We are happy that our relations are taking a new positive direction, with the guidance of our two leaders....We know we still have a lot to discuss in areas of justice and on how we can cooperate to make our justice systems stronger and more efficient, so this kind of meeting is very important step in that direction and I hope that whatever may be achieved in the future, we need first of all to establish a strong legal framework of cooperation in justice sector." Minister added

In relation to the Justice Sector there are some achievements to be proud of, both countries have already exchanged suspected criminals. Burundi handed over 11 persons and Rwanda 19 persons.
