On Friday the 10^th January 2020, the Chief Justice Dr. Faustin NTEZIRYAYO chaired a Leadership Group meeting at Lemigo Hotel, which brought together top leaders and their deputies from Justice, Reconciliation, Law and Order Sector (JRLOS) institutions. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange about working relations among JRLOS institutions, discussion on the vision 2050 in justice and welcoming recently appointed leaders in JRLOS institutions.

While opening the JRLOS leaders meeting, the Chief Justice Dr. Faustin NTEZIRYAYO requested participants to think about justice vision, which is citizen centered, inclusive and participative. He further told them three points, which he thinks would contribute towards maintaining quality justice in Rwanda which are the following: (1) Ensure professionalism while hiring staff (2) ensuring integrity in JRLOS institutions and (3) Maintaining institutional collaboration and good working relations.  

While addressing the participants, Minister of Justice/Attorney General Busingye Johnston focused on informing news leaders about the structure of Justice Sector and its operational framework in the presentation entitled: “Rwanda’s Justice Sector :yesterday- today and tomorrow”. He informed them that the future of Justice Sector requires all institutions to work fast and to handle justice related issues as fast as possible using technology.  “The vision 2050 in justice requires us to speed up service delivery especially using technology, to be transparent, accountable to our stakeholders and to fight crimes as much as possible” Minister Busingye said.    

While talking to the media, Minister Busingye told them that more efforts will be put in fighting crimes, in general and more particularly Gender based violence and corruption related crimes and strengthening citizen centered and participative justice.  Click here to access the presentation by Minister of Justice and Attorney General.

The meeting concluded with JRLOS Leaders commitment to collaborate more than ever in order to reach the vision’s targets with flying colours.
